CLUB FITTING AND CLUB REPAIR

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

The College of Golf Keiser University has partnered with Mitchell Golf Equipment Company to establish a first class 700 square foot club repair facility within the campus. Mitchell Golf will provide all club repair equipment and training for the PGA Professional Staff at The College of Golf. While visiting the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Florida last week, Brian Hughes, PGA, and I ran into Ed Mitchell, PGA/Owner of Mitchell Golf at his booth. He showed us the newest addition to his already exceptional line of golf repair/measurement equipment, which included digital readouts (great for us older types who can’t see the lines on the devices very well). Students at The College of Golf receive formal classroom training on club repair and are able to use the Mitchell equipment during labs to work on their own clubs. Students will also be exposed to the practical application of club fitting in the Fundamentals of Golf Instruction and Advanced Golf Instruction classes. Club fitting and teaching go hand-in-hand, and the College of Golf ensures that club fitting is integrated into the teaching program so graduates can begin their careers with a full arsenal of tools to help others learn the game of golf and improve. Please visit our website at www.collegeofgolf.keiseruniversity.edu for more detailed information about club fitting and repair, or call an Admissions Counselor at 888-355-4465.

PGA Instruction at the College of Golf

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

A lot of prospective students want to know how our PGA Instructors teach the game of golf. In addition to the formal classes dealing with Golf Swing Fundamentals, Short Game Fundamentals, The Mental Approach to Golf, and Rules of Golf, College of Golf PGA Instructors offer individual lessons to students, clinics, and club fitting sessions on a weekly basis. We use the Motion Analysis Technology by Taylor Made for club fitting and detailed swing analysis, the AboutGolf Simulator to measure golf ball and club mechanics, and the V1 computer video analysis system to provide visual confirmation of the technical information generated on the AboutGolf Simulator, all in our indoor teaching/training facility. College of Golf PGA Professionals also teach individual lessons and clinics outdoors at the PGA Center for Golf Learning and Performance, which is only five minutes away from our campus. The design of the PGA Center for Golf Learning and Performance is ideal for teaching all aspects of the game, as they have over 5,000 square feet of putting greens, designated chipping and pitching areas, a bunker complex consisting of 7 different types of sand and different designs of bunkers, and a horseshoe shaped range area for practicing in different types of wind conditions. Also, all practice balls at the PGA Center for Golf Learning and Performance are Titleist balls. Students are not limited to merely taking lessons/clinics at the PGA Center for Golf Learning and Performance, as they have access 7 days a week from 8:00am until 9:00pm (current hours) to practice the different aspects of their games.
